The name Esmeralda is translated from Spanish as emerald. For many, it is associated with the main character of Victor Hugo’s novel “Notre Dame de Paris”. This flower is unusually beautiful and has a slightly capricious character, like a gypsy from the work.
The leaves of the plant are large and velvety. They are evenly painted in a pleasant green color. The socket is a little wavy, but neat and even.
- LE Esmeralda possesses large shades of ripe raspberries with terry corollas. The flowers are plentiful and lush, they look harmoniously with a smooth green rosette.
- RS-Esmeralda differs in large terry flowers, their volume can reach 7 cm, as in the photo on the left. On the edges of each flower there is a white edging, in the middle a more saturated color.
Features and differences from other varieties
The flower is distinguished by an unusual green edging, while maintaining coolness in the room, it remains.
In other cases, it may whiten slowly. The first flowering is characterized by the formation of many peduncles.
After the flower is fully revealed, forming a magnificent hat. She stays for a period of three months.
Violet is not stable, identical sockets are infrequent. In winter, the bud opens up to 6 months, but the flower dies. In spring and summer, the process is faster.

Let us consider in more detail the growing conditions of this variety.
The ground for violets is chosen loose. It should contain peat, leaf and coniferous soil. The following requirements apply to soil:
- moisture capacity;
- air tightness;
- lack of harmful organisms;
- acidity pH 5.5 - 6.5;
- nitrogen in moderation;
- potassium and phosphorus in large quantities;
The choice of pot for violets depends on its size. The diameter of the outlet should be 3 to 1 with the diameter of the top of the pots. Therefore, it is necessary that the flower 3 times overlap the pot.
Caution! A large cache-pot for violets is not suitable, since they give all their strength to filling the root system. A pot is needed in size - about 500-700 ml, possibly less. The height should be 10 cm, the diameter is about the same (from 10 to 13 cm). Pots are preferably clay or plastic.
A well-consecrated place contributes to the rapid growth and active flowering of the Esmeralda violet.
It is optimal when daylight hours last at least 14 hours. To extend it, you can apply artificial consecration.
Direct sunlight for the plant can be harmful, so you should protect the violet from them.
The temperature should be from 20 to 24 degrees. At night, it drops by 4 degrees compared with the day. Drafts for violets are harmful, but the high temperature characteristic of summertime is especially dangerous - during heat, the flower dies.
Violet needs moist air. It is not necessary to spray, as fungal diseases can form on the leaves. To moisten the air, a container with pebbles in which there is water is left near the violet. The leaves of the plant must be washed with a shower every month, and then remove excess water with a paper towel.
Planting and reproduction
Before planting, it is important to decide where to put the pot. It is better to put the violet on the windowsill or next.
It is advisable to leave on the north side, in order to avoid direct sunlight. The plant is usually grown from leaf.
Reproduction usually occurs by stepson, leaf, peduncle and cuttings.
The easiest way is leaf propagation. This process is best started in spring or summer. It is better to take a sheet from the second or third row, it should be bright green, keep its shape well and not have damage and stains.
If rooting is done with water, you need to dissolve activated carbon in a disposable glass. After immersing the sheet on 1 cm, put it in heat (not in the sun) and after the roots appear about 1 cm plant in the soil.
Care for violet includes watering, transplanting and top dressing, we will consider each item in more detail.
The leaves of the plant are located near the ground. Water should not penetrate to their surface and outlet.
To water the violet, you need to immerse the pot in a container of water until the soil surface acquires moisture.
After draining water, the violet is put in its original place. You need to water twice a week.
A plant transplant must be performed annually once or twice. It’s best to do this in the spring.
Important! In a permanent pot, a transplant takes place at the outlet stage, it costs to transship from the previous pot along with a lump of earth. The old earth is moistened so that it can be removed easily and accurately. If the violet withers, the soil oxidizes, or if the transplant is untimely (more than 2 years), it is better to completely change the land.
Fertilizer and fertilizing
At the beginning of the spring period, the violet needs to be fed with nitrogen fertilizer. When buds are formed, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers must be added. You need to do this once every 14 days. You need to buy fertilizers in a flower shop and follow the instructions. In winter, top dressing is not needed.
Diseases and Pests
